Simplicity Car Care’s origins
In 2004, Paul got into the collision repair industry after graduating from university. As his next step of applying to law school would take a year, he decided to spend some time working at the family business: an auto body shop.
Paul began to notice obstacles that put the family business at risk, such as consolidation, the need for streamlined operations, and sales and marketing strategies. So, when his acceptance to law school arrived, he turned it down to focus on the family business. This is where Simplicity Car Care’s focus on community originates.
A few years later, in 2010, Paul worked with a team to implement new strategies for optimized operations and sales and marketing techniques. The family business then saw a 20 percent growth for three consecutive years. A great operating model had been developed, but more was needed to scale the business. Paul and his partners rebranded the family business to be Simplicity Car Care and started franchising.
The focus
Since opening Canadian franchise opportunities, Simplicity Car Care has opened eighty-seven locations around Canada, processing vehicles 40 percent faster than the industry average. The target to reach 110 locations and launch in the United States is well underway.
At the same time, the values that helped Paul build the brand remain the same. The goal is for Simplicity auto body shops to remain simple and affordable for every customer. In terms of franchisees, Simplicity Car Care endeavors to increase top-line sales to help contribute to the facility’s infrastructure, deliver operation support and guidance to reduce stress and obstacles, and leverage the Multi-Store Operation (MSO) intelligence to provide a guidance system for our partners.
The purpose
Simplicity Car Care aims to improve sales and profitability in independent auto body shops that have become franchisees. The idea isn’t to follow what everyone else is doing but to create a new, successful path to follow. Working with other hardworking operators leads to an improved quality of life, industry experts, and an auto body shop legacy.
The highlights
Simplicity Car Care is managed by leaders that have accumulated years of helpful experience. In that experience is the understanding of what other auto body shops might be experiencing in terms of pain points, obstacles, and dead ends. This understanding helped create an operating model that supersedes others.
Simplicity Car Care in the next five years
According to established plans and strategies, Simplicity Car Care will reach 250 locations in Canada and around seventy locations in the United States. There is also the intention of exploring international partnerships in Europe and the Asia Pacific with Master Licensing Partnerships.
